PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Peer Review Process at Opus Juris

Opus Juris adheres to a Double-Blind Peer Review system, ensuring impartiality and academic integrity throughout the evaluation process. Under this method, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other to eliminate any potential bias.

Review Workflow:

  • 1
Manuscript RegistrationUpon submission, each manuscript is assigned a unique identification code (e.g., LATLJ-0001) for tracking and confidentiality purposes.
  • 2
AnonymizationAll author-identifying information is removed from the manuscript to maintain anonymity during the review.
  • 3
Reviewer AssignmentThe anonymized manuscript is forwarded to two independent peer reviewers who are not part of the journal’s honorary editorial board.
  • 4
Preliminary Compliance ChecksBefore full review, the manuscript undergoes scrutiny for formatting compliance, relevance to the journal’s scope, adherence to plagiarism policies, and completeness of content.
  • 5
Evaluation CriteriaReviewers assess the manuscript based on several parameters, including academic rigor, originality, methodological soundness, clarity of argumentation, and the overall contribution to legal scholarship.
  • 6
Scoring SystemEach reviewer assigns a score out of 5 based on their evaluation. Manuscripts receiving a combined score of 6 or above out of 10 are shortlisted for final publication.

This robust process is designed to uphold the journal’s commitment to quality and academic excellence in legal research and writing.

MANUSCRIPT PROCESSING FEES

Manuscript Processing Fee

To ensure the continued provision of high-quality publishing services, authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication following a rigorous peer-review process are required to pay a one-time manuscript processing fee.

Unlike traditional journals that rely on subscription-based revenue models—primarily funded by institutional libraries - Opus Juris operates under a fully open-access framework. All published articles are made freely available to both the academic community and the general public. As a result, the journal does not generate income through subscription sales or restricted access to content.

In order to sustain this open-access model and maintain high editorial and publication standards, a modest processing fee is charged per accepted manuscript. This fee supports essential functions such as website maintenance, server hosting, domain charges, DOI (Digital Object Identifier) registration, indexing services, and ongoing editorial operations, all of which contribute to enhancing the visibility and scholarly impact of the published work.
